Fashion Phobia Part 1: How To Identify Your Fashion Comfort Zone

Wednesday, October 14, 2015

So let's cut to the chase. I consider myself quite fashionable.  But honestly, my personal style is predictable and I'm not afraid to admit it.  In fact, I'm stuck in this little box I like to call, The Fashion Comfort Zone. But I don't mind it because for some odd reason it works for me. However, it's too familiar. And unfortunately, I've become too comfortable.  It's time to step out of this comfort zone.  Fashion has a huge playlist and I don't wanna be stuck on repeat, so if you're ready to try something new, then this post is for you.

But where should we start Bri??? Well the first step is admitting you have a problem!  Lol Are you kidding me? No, the first step is actually identifying what your fashion comfort zone is.  We've heard the saying "You are what you eat" but I find the statement true with what we wear. Tonight we use three techniques to experiment with in helping you identify your fashion comfort zone.  So let's begin!!!

Jacket x H&M     Skirt x Charlotte Russe

I've learned that my fashion comfort zone consists of Black and White Colors, Patterns and Multiple Layers.  How I came to this conclusion was quite simple actually.  I;

1. Looked at all of my clothes
2. Asked my friends
3.  Asked myself.

Ultimately, I've found it interesting how what we wear reveals a lot about who we are. I never knew how insecure I really am until I found out about my fashion comfort zone. So here's my confession: Black and White colors hide the fact that I sweat heavily.  Because of my short torso and long legs, I find texture and patterns are easy to distract/hide my disproportions.  Lastly, I have no booty you guys lol.. I'm flat back there, so layering hides that.  But It's ok, it makes me unique and I'm ready to take this journey.  If you are, I challenge you Egos to find your fashion comfort zone as we conclude Part 1 of The Fashion Phobia Series.

1. Look at your wardrobe and think about what colors you wear most (Neutrals, Brights, Pastels)?  What style do you find yourself imitating (Traditional, Glam, Preppy)?

2.  Ask your friends to describe your style.

3.  Ask yourself why do you wear what you wear.  Do you really like the style or color or are you hiding behind your wardrobe.

Once you've come up with your results email me @ thestylishego@gmail.com
